About Markaz Al-Sunnah
Markaz Sunnah operates under the esteemed supervision of Shaykh Zulfiker Ibrāhīm Memon.
Shaykh Zulfiker Ibrāhīm Memon was born in 1397 AH (corresponding to 1977) in Leicester, United Kingdom. He completed the memorisation of the entire Qurʾān at the age of fourteen in England. He then travelled to Gujarat, India, where he studied Ḥanafī fiqh and other Islamic sciences for five years at Jāmiʿah Islāmiyyah Taʿlīm ad-Dīn. During this period, he was introduced to the works of Imām ʿAbdul Jalīl Samrodi, which became a pivotal turning point in his intellectual journey, leading to his adoption of the methodological framework of the Ahl al-Ḥadīth tradition.
At the age of twenty-one, Shaykh Zulfiker was accepted into the Islamic University of Madīnah, where he achieved distinctions in Arabic language, Islamic studies, Ḥadīth, and Daʿwah principles. He went on to earn a Master’s Degree in ʿAqīdah and Daʿwah with first-class honours and distinction. He also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Daʿwah principles, and a Higher Diploma in Postgraduate Studies from the Institute of Arabic Manuscripts in Cairo, Egypt. Additionally, he earned a second Master’s degree with first-class honours and distinction from the Department of Oriental Studies, Islamic Studies and Translation, SOAS, University of London.
He holds numerous Ijāzāt in Qurʾān and Ḥadīth from eminent scholars across the Islamic world, including scholars of the Prophet’s Masjid in Madīnah. Shaykh Zulfiker has played a major role in spreading the methodology of Ahl al-Ḥadīth globally, supervising translations, publishing Islamic works in multiple languages, and teaching a variety of Islamic sciences.
Shaykh Zulfiker currently serves as the Director of the Madinah Arabic Program (MAP), a structured and intensive Arabic course based within the Islamic University of Madīnah, designed to provide students with a strong foundation in the Arabic language. Since 2004, he has been serving in roles that include answering questions and conveying the fatāwā of senior scholars near the noble grave of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. In addition, he has served in the Tawjīh wa-l-Irshād (Guidance and Counselling) department within the Prophet’s Masjid, where he was responsible for guiding visitors, translating, editing, and supervising Islamic literature in English, as well as advising attendees on matters of shirk and bidʿah. This important work was carried out under the supervision of the Committee for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.
Shaykh Zulfiker is frequently invited to speak at knowledge-based and community events alongside prominent scholars in Madīnah and abroad. He is well known and respected not only in Madīnah but also among scholars and duʿāt in countries such as South Africa, Pakistan, India, and the United States. He has visited Australia multiple times, delivering beneficial lessons, public lectures, and Friday khuṭbahs that have enriched local Muslim communities with clarity and insight rooted in the way of the Salaf.
Central to our efforts is cultivating a vibrant and knowledgeable community through a diverse array of regular activities and educational opportunities. These include weekly classes, seminars, practical workshops, and family-oriented programs, all designed to foster a supportive and engaging environment for Islamic learning and personal development. Our educational activities include Classical Arabic (Fusha) classes, specifically designed to cater to the learning needs of individuals from diverse non-Arabic speaking ethnic backgrounds and age groups. These courses open the door for students to directly study and appreciate Islamic texts in the Arabic language, thereby strengthening their connection to authentic Islamic knowledge.
A hallmark of Markaz Sunnah's educational approach is our commitment to connecting the local community with respected Islamic scholars and specialised educators from around the world. Through both online platforms and personal visits, these scholars impart profound insights and authoritative knowledge on a range of essential religious topics. Their invaluable teachings not only enrich the community's understanding of Islam but also proactively address contemporary issues, equipping our community members, particularly the youth, with the knowledge and tools to recognise, avoid, and effectively counteract their exposure to extremist beliefs and ideologies.
Furthermore, Markaz Sunnah is actively working towards establishing a masjid based firmly on the authentic manhaj (methodology) of Ahlul Hadith. This mosque will serve not only as a sacred space for worship but also as a vibrant centre for learning, spiritual growth, and community engagement. The establishment of such a masjid embodies our steadfast commitment to authenticity, clarity in faith, and unity upon the Truth.
The responsible persons at Markaz Sunnah, along with our dedicated teachers and other local community employees, exemplify their unwavering commitment to our mission by selflessly volunteering their time and effort without any financial remuneration or benefits. They bear the travel, boarding, lodging, and related expenses incurred during any activities they or their immediate family members carry out on behalf of Markaz Sunnah. Markaz Sunnah does not charge fees for any courses or lectures we offer. While students may need to purchase textbooks from Markaz Sunnah, the profits generated from these sales are used to fund the costs associated with hosting visits from esteemed scholars and to achieve our goal of establishing a dedicated masjid.
Markaz Sunnah warmly welcomes you to make voluntary donations. The donations support our educational activities, scholarly visits, and our goal of establishing a masjid. In this way, you are actively participating in this noble cause, facilitating genuine Islamic knowledge and enriching our community. Rest assured that every donation received is diligently utilised exclusively towards fulfilling Markaz Sunnah's goals, as all our teachers and officials contribute their time and skills entirely voluntarily.
At Markaz Sunnah, we extend a warm and open invitation to all community members to join us, benefit from authentic Islamic education, participate in enriching communal activities, and unite together upon the foundational principles of wholeheartedly accepting the Truth, the clarity in beliefs and understanding and Islamic practice based on authentic evidence from the Quran and Sunnah.
Markaz Sunnah is a dynamic not-for-profit Islamic organisation based in Australia. We are deeply committed to spreading the authentic teachings of Islam as understood and practised by the Salaf al-Salih, the righteous predecessors of Islam. Founded on our guiding principle, "Unity Upon the Truth and Clarity," our mission is to provide clear, sound, and comprehensive Islamic education that fosters correct belief (aqidah), beneficial knowledge (ilm), and righteous action (amal) within the broader community.
